Limits to Opportunity: A Creative Workshop (Waitlist)

Limits to Opportunity: A Creative Workshop (Waitlist)

$225.00

We all face limits. From busy schedules to imposter syndrome to difficult circumstances, it can sometimes seem impossible to write or create, especially in the ways we imagine. But here’s the good news: when viewed differently, the same limits that hinder us can become pathways to deeper creativity and possibility.

In this online workshop, we will acknowledge our limitations and reframe them as pathways to creative growth. You will receive weekly lessons, writing prompts, and encouragement from a supportive community. At the end of the class, I will offer personalized, developmental edits on one written piece (3,000 words or less).

DATES: TBA

Includes:

  • Weekly e-mailed lessons.

  • Weekly writing prompts.

Weekly Overview

Week 1: NAME

During this week, we will identify the things we feel hold us back. We will name the places where we feel creatively squeezed, identify our resistance, and acknowledge practical things in our schedules or lives that seem to limit us. Then, we will ask where we might find opportunity.

Week 2: PLAY

How can we become more light-hearted in our work? We will explore the value of play and curiosity in the creative life, and discuss specific strategies for writers to play with language.

Note: This week will include a Zoom call on Tuesday, September 6th at 6:30 PM CST.

Week 3: FILL

Once we know what’s holding us back, how do we take a small step forward and fill our hard spaces with beauty and hope? How can we fill the waiting spaces in our schedule with more creativity?

This week will include a 30-minute one-on-one call with the instructor.

Week 4: CELEBRATE

During this week, we’ll talk about the value of celebration. You will have the opportunity to pick something you have created during the workshop and share it with the others in the group or send it to me for feedback.

This week will include an optional Zoom call – date TBD.

Week 5: This week includes no formal content, but you will have time to read and respond to others’ work.

What past participants have said …

“After a gentle nudge from my niece, I enrolled in Jenna's Limits to Opportunity writing class. I wasn't sure what to expect and was very hesitant to share my thoughts in the beginning. If you have any doubts about writing whether it be poetry or prose, Jenna will help you explore the limits/obstacles (real or imagined) to your creative journey and help you put them into proper perspective, so that you may be free to be creative. I strongly encourage you to take this step of faith and live your best creative life.” - Ellen Toles

“This class was so helpful in identifying my own creative limits and learning how to move forward anyway. Learning from Jenna's expertise, I was able to unlock new creative places through all of the resources and exercises she provided. Finally, the accountability I found through the class helped me get over big hurdles with my writing.” -Kim Butler, founder of The Whiteboard Room
